We thought website analytics
should be simpler.
We wanted to understand how our websites were performing, but Google Analytics had become far more complicated than we needed. And while there were simpler alternatives, we couldn’t find one from an independent UK company.
So we built Benmetrics.
Straightforward, privacy-focused website analytics without the unnecessary complexity or invasive tracking. Independently built and owned in Scotland.
Named after the hills.
Ben is the Scots word for a mountain, from the Gaelic beinn.
Draw a month of a website’s visitors as a line and it looks like a range of hills, with the busiest day as the summit. That is the chart at the top of every report.
1,345 visitors at the peak. Ben Nevis stands 1,345 metres tall.

What we won’t do.
-
Set a cookie on your visitors.
Or store anything else on their devices. Benmetrics doesn’t need to.
-
Keep a record of who visited.
We count visits, not identities. We don’t build personal profiles or store visitors’ IP addresses in our analytics records.
-
Follow anyone from one website to the next.
Visitors are counted separately on each website, without building a trail of their activity across sites or days.
-
Sell what we count, or put adverts beside it.
Your analytics are yours. We don’t sell visitor data or use it for advertising.
We hold our own website to the same rules. Its public pages set no cookies and load nothing from other companies’ servers. Everything we record, and everything we don’t, is explained in our privacy policy.
A few things worth knowing.
- Where it’s made
- Independently developed and owned in Scotland.
- Where your data lives
- Your analytics data is hosted on servers in London, UK.
- How it pays its way
- Benmetrics costs from £8 a month, after a 7-day free trial. We make money from customers, not their visitors.
